The Boys & Girls Club wrestling program began in 1998 with 16 wrestlers and volunteer coach Terry Davis.  At that time, there was no room in the Boys & Girls Club for the group to practice.  They began holding practices at Gardner Jr. High in Russellville.

Over the next few years the program expanded and changed locations again, eventually settling in at the new L.V. Williamson Boys & Girls Club in 2006.  The facility was designed with a multi-purpose room that houses the program during the season and for off season practices and clinics.  Along with others, volunteer coaches Terry Davis and Harold Taylor worked tirelessly to create a solid program.  Participants not only learned the sport of wrestling, but also competed in wrestling meets.  Early in the program, we had only one other group in the state with whom to compete.  Currently, there are over 18 schools and numerous associated groups that have wrestling programs in Arkansas.
